Communicating Change

February 1st, 2021

I run the ~15 person biotech startup Loyal.

Startup culture is much less pervasive in scientific communities than many other technical fields. For most of my team, Loyal is their first startup.

It is the responsibility of the CEO to prepare their team as best possible for the road ahead. This is even more challenging for biotech founders. You must first untrain much of academia’s habits, then give context on doing science in a company/for profit setting, and then finally prepare the team for the unique trials and tribulations of doing science in an early, rapidly evolving startup.

I gave this presentation to the team in January 2021 as part of our ‘Sync Week’. Hopefully it is helpful for you, too!
